140 grs white sugar
a tiny bit of salt

This is the selection I made from the Collection dossier which I divided into two different images.

In the first one you can see introduction that describes the collection, the moodboard for the collection and the research I made about the history and development of the textile techniques I used to make this collection.

And in the second photo you can see the 18 looks of the collection, then some of them and its technical drawing and the speec sheets.

To show the looks individualy, I made different backgrounds with the patterns I designed for this collection.

Finally I am going to show you my thesis. It is about the development of a brand called Sicre which is pret-a-porter brand based on textiles techniques, and here I show you some extracts of the concept dossier that explains the concept and shows my references, brands that would be similar to mine and the type of woman that would buy my clothes.

I inspired on the layout design of a book from the beginning of XXth Century to make the graphic design of the dossiers and I also designed the logo of my brand.

En la web sobre tendencias entre los alumnos de mi universidad, encontré un post dedicado al tema pelos en el que aparecía un collage y en el que salía la guapísima Ana B. que ejerció de modelo para mi tesis.

Es la foto redondeada. En la foto aparece con turbante de punto tejido y confeccionado por mi, y con camisa de algodon teñida y bordada a mano también por mi.

Espero que os guste. En el próximo post os enseñaré mi tesis por fin.

Autumn/Winter moodboard

For my thesis(final project), I created a pret-a-porter brand called SICRE which is based in textile research and experimentation, with a naif and romantic soul.

I developed a collection inspired on the impressionist painting of Monet and the galaxi and mixed it in a collection by using embroideries, prints, beads,knitting... to make a rich collection that represents the flowers and shine of galaxy by the textile treatment.

And here is the moodboard that shows the inspiration for this colection.

Josef Albers (1888-1976) was an influential teacher, writer, painter, and color theorist—now best known for the Homages to the Square he painted between 1950 and 1976 and for his innovative 1963 publication The Interaction of Color.

Before enrolling as a student at the Bauhaus in 1920, Josef had been a school teacher in his hometown of Bottrop, in the northwestern industrial Ruhr region of Germany. Initially he taught a general elementary school course; then, following studies in Berlin, he taught art. In the course of his teaching years, he developed as a figurative artist and printmaker. Once he was at the Bauhaus, he worked primarily in stained and sandblasted glass, first making glass assemblages from detritus he found at the Weimar town dump, then sandblasting glass constructions and designing large stained-glass windows for houses and buildings. He also designed furniture, household objects, and a typeface, and developed a keen eye as a photographer. In 1925 he was the first Bauhaus student to be asked to join the faculty and become a "master" there. By 1933, when pressure from the Nazis forced the school to close, Josef Albers had become one of its best-known artists and teachers.

In 1925 the Bauhaus moved to the city of Dessau to a streamlined and revolutionary building designed by Walter Gropius, architect and founder of the school. In Dessau, the Alberses lived alongside the families of artist teachers Lyonel Feininger, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Oscar Schlemmer, and others in one of the masters' houses designed by Gropius. In November 1933 Josef and Anni Albers emigrated to the USA where Josef had been asked to make the visual arts the center of the curriculum at the newly established Black Mountain College near Asheville in North Carolina. They remained at Black Mountain until 1949. Josef continued his exploration of a range of printmaking techniques and took off as an abstract painter, while continuing as a captivating teacher and writer. Anni made extraordinary weavings, developed new textiles, and taught, while also writing essays on design that reflected her independent and passionate vision. During this time Josef and Anni Albers traveled widely both in the United States and Mexico, a country that captivated their imagination and had a strong effect on both of their art. In 1950, the Alberses moved to Connecticut. From 1950 to 1958 Josef Albers was chairman of the Department of Design at the Yale University School of Art. There, and as guest teacher at art schools throughout America and in Europe, he trained a whole new generation of art teachers. Meanwhile he wrote, painted, and made prints. In 1971, he was the first living artist ever to be honored with a solo retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. He was still working on his Homages to the Square at the time of his death in New Haven, Connecticut in 1976.

In the first year of university, one of my favourite subjects was Design History and in that lessons I learnt a lot about the Bahaus and got fascinated by them. Two of the artists that impressed me more were Josef and Anni Albers. Here I show my favourite pieces from Josef´s artwork which developes between the 20´s and 50´s eventhough I like all of his work, it´s impossible to show it all so I suggest you to check the link below and see all his work and his beautiful photos taken in South America and some street interventions he made.

Hace unos días descubrí a Gunta Stözl gracias al maravilloso blog de Merche (también os recomiendo que miréis su otro blog, Black Oveja). Me sorprendió muchísimo el trabajo de Gunta:

1- Por sus maravillosos telares.

2- Porque hace unos meses a través de tumblr encontré una foto de uno de sus telares y llevo meses intentando encontrar de quien era, y al final después de meses, sin buscarlo y de casualidad al final descubro que son de una mujer llamada Gunta.

Gunta Stözl (5 March 1897 – 22 April 1983) fue una artista textil alemana que jugó un papel fundamental en el desarrollo de la Bahaus. Su especialidad era crear tejidos mediante la técnica de telar. Trabajó junto a otros artistas textiles como Anni Albers, a la cual también admiro mucho y de la que hablaré más adelante.

El pasado viernes 17 fue el desfile (Off Cibeles) de Anjara, y yo trabajé como vestidora, o eso se suponía porque acabé planchando toda la colección, cosiendo, limpiando zapatos...

Como experiencia estuvo bien pero salí bastante disgustada en cuanto al trato que se nos dio.

No voy a hacerla publicidad ni voy a contar su historia ni nada de eso, porque no nos dio ni las gracias por ayudarla. Ni ella ni sus compañeras.

He de reconocer que había cosas de la colección que me gustaron aunque había otras que..... ¿H&M?

En fin, que las únicas simpáticas las modelos y Odet.

Gracias Odet por ser la única amable y decir las cosas de buen rollo; y por venir a darnos las gracias.

Dios miooooo!! Hace más de un mes que no actualizo el blog.... A estas alturas probablemente nadie me lea y habré perdido los pocos seguidores que tenía.

A finales de agosto, aburrida ya del ganchillo y mirando los september issues; al ver que Prada en su desfile sacaba a las modelos con cintas de pelo hechas de punto, se me ocurrió hacer las mias y desarrollar un poco mis conocimientos básicos de punto.

Y esto es lo que he hecho. Siento la calidad de las fotos, pero es que la cámara no es muy buena.

(Que el color de las lanas y los tonos de mi colcha sean iguales es coincidencia)

¿Qué opináis? ¿ Os gusta este complemento para el pelo?

Volví hace dos días de vacaciones y el otro día hablando con mi novio mientras leía Lula, me comentó que ERDEM es un nombre turco (como él), y le dije que era una marca de RTW.

Había visto está marca en blogs, revistas y tal pero nunca en profundidad. Y hoy me ha dado por curiosear para ver si el diseñador es turco (por la parte que me toca) y efectivamente, lo es.

Se llama Erdem Moralioglu y es hijo de padre turco y madre inglesa, y estoy enamorada de lo que hace.

Me encanta su estilo y sus estampados son lo más y las combinaciones entre ellos también.

Me encanta la combinación de los vestidos ultra-femeninos con los botines con calcetines.

Os dejo una breve descripción en inglés de esta artista multidisciplinar porque viene el hombre del seguro a arreglar el cristal de la ventana de mi cuarto que esta totalmente roto, como si le hubieran tirado una piedra, y esos que no tengo pretendientes de eso que tiran piedras a tu ventana en mitad de la noche como en las pelis americanas; así que no sé que C*** a pasado.

Most home sewing furniture when closed, appear as a heavy and anonymous volume. Only when open do they show the sewing machine and the multiple drawers and boxes. The Sewingworkshop on the contrary is a mini sewing furniture who dares showing its nature. Even better, it draws on its functionality for its design. Avoiding any sophistication not suited for the needs of occasional dressmakers, the sewingworkshop concentrates a pool of technical and creative activities in a compact furniture. The structure in beech plywood, is enlivened by the colorful spools fixed on one side of the machine. On the top, a metallic ruler is fixed in front of the machine. When in use, the unit on wheels can be moved to reach all the sewing material guarded in two boxes, one placed into the other. And to do small works in the comfort of an armchair, one simply takes the removable box from the top.

Ayer haciendo limpieza en mi cuarto, encontré dos revistas de PASAJES DISEÑO; muy muy antiguas, pero me gustan tanto que las guardo con mucho amor. Este número estaba más bien enfocado al mundo textil: artistas que utilizan el crochet, diseñadores industriales que aplican el punto en sus obras o instalaciones, artistas que se expresan a través del bordado...

Y venía un artículo de La Maison de Marina, y me volví a enamorar de estas mesitas para coser con cajones por todas partes y ganchos para poner las bobinas.

Ayyy que ordenadito lo tendría yo todo con una mesita de estas donde poner mi máquina de coser, mis bobinas, ovillos, alfires, cintra métrica, costrero... y no todo por ahi guardado de mala manera en cajas de zapatos y mi pobre máquina de coser solita en el escritorio que era de mi abuelo o de mi padre, no lo sé, es caso es que ninguno de los dos lo usa. Por lo menos, está solita pero encima de un escritorio-buró muy bonito.

Cuando tenga mi propia casa, me encantaría tener un estudio para mí solita y para mis múltiples cosas con un "sewingworkshop" como estos en ella y a ser posible, una tricotosa también.

Estas maravillas son de una marca llamada Marañon que lleva esta chica tan guapa que veis en la foto de arriba. Se llama Lorena, tiene 21 años y es cubana; aunque resisde en EE.UU con su novio Ryan que también tiene una tienda en Etsy.

El chico, que es muy majo, le hace a su chica las ilustraciones y toda la parte gráfica de packaging, etiquetas.... lo que me parece adorable.

Lorena se encuentra en mi paraíso-pedestal del handmade, que creo que lo he comentado alguna vez. Donde se encuentran todas las marcas de handmade que admiro. Y la verdad, como para no admirarla. Todas la piezas están completamente bordadas a mano y con las ventas que tiene y los encargos que recibirá, se debe pasar la vida entera bordando, y la verdad me parece admirable.

Yo lo he intentado y la verdad es que me cuesta.... se me hace eternoooooo

Subiré algunas fotos de mi proceso creativo actualmente.

Y lo que más me anima de todo, es que esta chica tiene sólo 21 años! (2 más que yo) y tiene como 400 ventas en Etsy. Y claro, tengo la esperanza de que algún día eso también me ocurra a mí.

También tiene un tumblr donde enseña sus inspiraciones y proceso de trabajo, y aquí podéis leer una entrevista que le hicieron en Etsy

P.D. El nombre de la marca puede recordar a Gregorio Marañon, pero no! Es el nombre de una fruta allí en Cuba, y me hace mucha gracia ya que mi marca se llama Marakuya y también es una fruta aunque con "c". (Y no penséis que me he copiado, que cuando le puse el nombre no sabía de la existencia de Marañon)

Me encanta la colección Resort 2011 de Stella McCartney. Los tejidos, colores y formas de las prendas son preciosas y ultra femeninas y como no, me encantan los estampados de las prendas.

Como ya sabéis ando obsesionada con los estampados y no puedo parar de pensar en los que quiero materializar para mi tesis.

Tengo en mente hacer algo con estampados de cuadros, sobretodo de Monet y me ha sorprendido mucho esta colección porque utiliza la obra "Temple of Flora" de Robert John Thornton, un médico escritor botánico inglés (1768 - 1837). Y me parece muy moderna para la época en la que fue creada.

En la escuelas nos han propuesto un proyecto pre-tesis que consiste en que desarrollemos un diario visual con imágenes, textos, dibujos, telas.... vamos, lo que queramos sobre las cosas que nos gustan.

Se supone que con esto debemos encontrarnos y conocernos a nosotros mismos para que luego nos sirva para pensar bien durante el verano que nos gustaría hacer para la tesis.

Yo me he dado cuenta de que casi todas mis referencias son cuadros! Y me gustaría mucho, ya que soy de textil, que mi tesis fuera una mezcla de estampados basándose en mis referiencias artísticas pero a la vez muy naif y trendy...

A ver qué sale de todo eso.. la verdad es que tengo bastantes ideas

During these 5 months of holiday I´ve to develope my Pre-Tesis project called ID/DNA Project which consist on making a visual diary with photos, text, fabrics, drawings.... anything that we want and like.

We are supposed to understand and find each others with this project so that it will be easier to develope the tesis.

I realised that msot of my references are paintings! And I would like very much, as I´m studying for being a textile designer, that my tesis would be a mixture of prints based on my artistic references but at the same time naif and trendy.

Let´s see what all of this brings.. the truth is that I have so many ideas

El lunes celebramos en el patio de la escuela el Ied Vintouch, no vendí mucho, sólo dos collares... pero claro no podía competir contra mis compañeros que vendían ropa a 1-3 euros!

En fin, que no me pienso venir abajo y voy a seguir currándomelo y espero que algún día (si puede ser cercano mejor, porfa) dé sus frutos.

A continuación os dejo las imágenes del puestecillo que me monté

On Monday we celebrated the Ied Vintouch at my school´s playground, I didn´t sell much, only 2 necklaces.... It was impossible to fight against 1-3 euro vintage clothes that my mates were selling!

Anyway, I´m not going to be dissapointed and I´m gonna keep working hard and I hope that one day (if it´s close better, please) I´ll get what I deserve.

El lunes 14 de Junio (vamos, dentro de ná) se celebra el Ied Vintouch en el Istituto de Europeo de Diseño.

Es una magnífica idea que han tenido unos compañeros. Ya que guardamos todo lo que encontramos; tenemos el armario lleno de prendas que hacemos para proyectos y que luego no sabemos que hacer; el vestido vintage de la abuela, las ilustraciones, las 20 mil revistas de diseño que tenemos acumuladas desde hace la tira de años, ¿Por qué no venderlo?

En el mercadillo encontraréis:

- Ropa/accesorios de segunda mano y vintage.

- Diseños propios de ropa o accesorios

- Revistas o libros de diseño

- Obras artísticas de todo tipo: ilustraciones, pinturas, esculturas...

- Material escolar (reglas, máquina de coser...)

Habrá un Dj pinchando en directo rock de los años 50 a los 80.

Y yo estaré vendiendo cositas de Marakuya y alguna cosa que tenga por ahí guardada, así que hacerme una visita porfa!!

Además habrá un ambiente divertidísimo ;)

Hoy hemos empezado la semana de Workshops, me gustaría poder haber elegido el de Food Design pero no quedaban plazas. De todas formas estoy encantada, ya que estoy en Madrid Concept Store- Product, que estaba dentro de mis opciones y la verdad es que pinta bastante bien la cosa.

Las imágenes que veís arriba son del ToolKit que desarrollaron mis compañeros en el workshop que evidentemente llevaba el mismo nombre. Yo hice un Fanzine, el cual no pienso enseñar NUNCA! porque es horrible.

Bueno pues hoy nos han dado un Toolkit a cada uno y a mí me parece una chulada

Today we started the Workshops´s week. I would like to be in Food Design but there were no more room. Anyway, I´m very happy with the workshop I have, which is called Madrid Concept Store- Product. It was between my options to choose and it seems really good.

The photos that you can see below are from the ToolKit that my schoolmates developed in the workshop that obviously had the same name. I did a Fanzine which i will never ever show because its horrible!

Each of us got a Toolkit today and I think It´s really cool.

Vanessa Bruno pour Bonpoint

Figurines del proyecto final de segundo año de moda llamado "onexone" que consiste en un co-brading entre 2 marcas, marca y tienda, marca y artista... en el cual hay que desarrollar una colección, dossieres, prototipos y la comunicación.

Mi compañera y yo elegimos el segmento trendy style (el proyecto está dividido por los segmentos de moda: lujo, lujo vanguardia, trendy style y urban unisex) y elegimos que nuestro proyecto consistiese en que Vanessa Bruno desarrollase una colección cápsula de niñas para la casa francesa Bonpoint .

Esta es mi colección que consta de 15 looks y estoy haciendo 2 prototipos (un vestido y un jersey)

Me da un poco de miedo subirla a internet.......

Hace una eternidad que no escribo ningún post... La verdad es que ando liadísima con el proyecto final de este año en la escuela. Cómo ya expliqué con anterioridad, se trata de una colaboración ficticia entre Vanessa Bruno y Bonpoint, y claro ando ocupadísima con los prototipos, los dossieres...

Aquí os dejo la foto del proyecto " I want a pair of glasses" que consistía en crear un personaje mediante la elección de unas gafas

Collares/Necklaces: h&m

Capa-chaqueta/jacket: hecha por mí usando el patrón del abrigo de Balenciaga/ Done by me using the pattern of the balenciaga coat

Falda/skirt: Hecha por mí/ done by me.

Zapatos/shoes: zara (eran negros y los pinté a mano con acrílicos dorado y plateado/ they were black and I painted them with gold and silver acrylics)

Collar de DUMBO SHOP

Diadema de LIVING THE CRAFTS

Hoy he ido a conocer el Nómada Market y la verdad es que me ha gustado mucho, había cosas muy chulas, el problema es que no tenía suficiente dinero.

Me han encantado dos vestidos de Sietedelonce.

He conocido a Déborah de Dumbo Shop, y cómo me escribió un comentario y me dijo que le gustaban las peinetas, pues allí que he ido a enseñarselas. Y se ha quedado con una y yo le he comprado ese bonito colgante que podéis ver arriba.

Estoy contentísima de que le gusten mis peinetas ya que es una marca más de las que tengo en mi "pedestal" del handmade y me gusta mucho todo lo que hacen. La colección de esta temporada es preciosa.

Y no sé cómo que me sube la moral y la ilusión y me da por superarme más en todo lo que hago y dedicarme a ello. Este verano voy a hacer muchas cositas ;)

Y la otra imagen es otra marca que he encontrado de la cual no conocía su existencia, y se llama Living the crafts. Tiene unas diademas, pulseras y pendientes monísimos.

These are the logo and rapport of the pattern that my friend Irina Slimobich and I made for our graphic composition project.

The briefing was about creating an imaginary company and design the packaging, logo, apps.... of it.

So we decided to create a bento take away restaurant, based of that japanese trend.

I won´t upload more photos because it takes a lot of time and I have all the documents on pdf or illustrator or indesign and I don´t know why, but I can´t upload pdf to the blog... so I had to export these 2 images to jpg, that´s why the quality isn´t very good.

I´m on holiday! Finally I can relax a bit (but not too much) after so much work, stress, pains.....

On friday after I left my school, I decided to go to buy some books and after one hour inside the shop, I ended up buying two amazing books: The A-Z of embrodeiry stiches and a Crochet manual with techniques and patterns.

And this is what I did in the weekend.

Done by two new ways of crochetting that I learnt and some embroidery stiches.

Snob Bag

On thursday, Snob Bag came to my school for giving a conference. They told us how they started blogging, the way they work, how they became so well known... It was very amusing and they looked very nice, funny and friendly.

I asked Tina how many bags does she have and she said that she has around 250 bags! that´s insane! =)

Ohhh and by the way, I finished my Balenciaga coat!!! When my beloved Helena sends me the photos, I will make a post about it.

Right now I have to go and keep designing my onexone project which consist on a cobranding between Vanessa Bruno and Bonpoint.

I´m very excited about this project, really happy with the work Paula (my mate, we work as pairs) and I are doing.

We are knitting this Sandra Backlund´s dress by hand. The point is to get it done all in the same piece.

The original dress is made why sewing indipendent pieces of wool but we have to get it without sewing, just by knitting and adding or dicreasing points, which I think it´s a hard work.

This is all I have done so far, it takes time and I am so busy with my other school projects.

We must start working hard on this because the dress must be done for June and I am dying for making that beautiful Issey Miyake´s dress that our teacher told us.

I hope we make a good dress , at least a bit similar to the original one.

On Friday I am presenting my Balenciaga´s coat finished, I´ll post a photo of it soon.

Aquí os dejo unas fotos de las cosas que hacemos en textil con la maravillosa Mercedes. Consiste en que aprendamos los ligamentos, la urdimbre y la trama y que aprendamos los tres ligamentos fundamentales: tafetán, raso y sarga.

En la imagen podéis ver el tafetán y la sarga.

Our design school was chosen to represent the city of Madrid in Salone di Mobile Milan and the universal exhibition Shanghai 2010

We are working on groups, all the different design school and especialities of Ied: fashion, comunication, industrial, graphic, digital, textile, creative direction

I will post some of the videos that my group made.. but now time to finish the pattern design homework I have...

Ayer encontré este tutorial de como hacer flores de tela en el blog de Supercursi.

Es de una página sobre bodas en la que te enseñan como hacer cosas a mano para el dia de tu boda y sugerencias para que tu boda sea única y original. La verdad es que la página está muy bien y lo mejor de todo es que los tutorials que enseñan no son solo aplicables a bodas, sino a lo que quieras!

Una maravillosa idea que encontré en el blog de Cuchuleta con Ratón sobre una revista japo.

Es una idea de Taka que consiste en bordas bolitas de tela con dibujos de flores y usarlas como broches o coleteros. Aunque la verdad es que a mí me sugieren un montón de cosas diferentes.

Aver si consigo acabar mis trabajos del IED y puedo ponerme a crear cosas para vender en Etsy, que tengo unas ganas.....
